Cop Challenge #6- "Recovery Missions"
Welcome to the lovely park. Today you will be proving in this lovely locale, just what kind of Cop skills you have hidden within you. This time, you will be using your cops intuition to get your way out of a real jam.
A hedge maze!
Above is an example of a hedge maze. As you can see the hedge maze has coordinates. For example A1, it the top-left corner, and J8 is the bottom-right corner. Your ultimate goal in any maze is to get from the start "S", to the finish "F". Here the start is at B5, and the finish is at B2.
You can walk through/on top of anything but gates and green walls. So other than the green walls, these are your only barriers.
Gates come in 6 different colors: Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Black.
At this point from the start you cannot get to the Finish because it is blocked behind the green gate. Your goal will be to find a way to open up that gate. Gates are opened by pushing buttons.
Like gates, there are 6 button colors: Blue, Red, Orange Yellow, Green, and Black
You are not strong enough however to push down these giant buttons, which leads us to our last field item.
Boxes. Whenever you move onto the spot of a box, and say "Take", you will take the box from where it is. You may then carry it with you. YOU MAY ONLY CARRY ONE BOX AT A TIME. At any point you may say "Drop". This will drop the box on the spot you are currently on.
The key to solving these puzzles however is, if you drop a box on a button, the box will hold the button down, removing the gates of that color, and allowing you to walk through that gate color.
As you can see for this demo, you only have access to one box, and one button. It is clear what you should do.
Covered buttons: None
Box Locations: D4, B7, I4
Box Locations: D4, B7, I4

Post 3: D4 (You are now standing at the spot were the box is)
Post 4: Take (You now picked up the box)
Post 5: D3
Post 6: D2 (You are now standing on the button)
Post 7: Drop (You now placed the box on the red button, opening all red gates.)
Covered buttons: Red

As you progress through the puzzle you must continue to conceptualize, (or otherwise take note of) how you are transforming the field with your actions, and where you are within it. As of now the box that was at D4, is now at D2 on the red button, and the red gates at C7 and E7 can now be passed through. You are now on D2 as well. Let's continue now.
Covered buttons: Red
Box Locations: D2, B7, I4
Box Locations: D2, B7, I4
With the red gates open by the box now being on the red button, you have gained access to another box, and a small room with an orange button. Your next moves are rather obvious now!

Post 22: Drop (You have now placed the box on the orange button, opening up all orange gates)
Now you have the red and orage gates both open. You now have access to the blue button that was in the room behind the orange gate. As you can see, the only other box is hidden behind a blue gate. This means that you clearly won't be able to use that box to open the blue gates. Since taking this box on the orange button would just close the orange gates leading to the blue button, there is only one box left to use. The box on the red button!

You now have access to a new box, and have also opened up the blue gate that was blocking the coveted green button. In order to gain access to the room leading to the green button you need to have the red gate opened again. You should use this new box to do that task.

You now have access to the green button by passing through the red gate, and then passing through the blue gate. You know you need this box to continue to hold the red button, so the only other box left to use is the box on the orange button. Since we no longer need to do anything behind the orange gate anymore, the orange gates no longer need to be open.

You are now on I6. The exit is on B2. The gates between here and there are the blue gate, the red gate, and finally the green gate we've been working to open this whole time. As you can see all 3 gates are open. This means you have a clear path to the finish!

And that is how you solve a hedge maze puzzle. As you can see your main goal will be choosing the right boxes to put on the right buttons to gain access to the right areas. Remember.
- You may only carry one box at a time
- You start on the start tile "S". Your first post is stepping off that tile
- You pick up a box by saying in a separate post "Take". You put it down somehwere else by saying in a different post "Drop"
- You move by saying adjacent (Up, Down, Left, Right) Tile coordinates.
- Colored buttons are held down by boxes. This is the only thing that can open a gate.
- Boxes can be reused, and when you take a box off a button, you close the gates again.
- Your ultimate goal is to make your way to the Finish Tile "F". When you correctly have done this, you have solved the puzzle.
For this challenge, I will post a unique puzzle field at Thursday, 9PM EST that you all will be solving in your own threads. The first player to correctly navigate the puzzle will win. You MAY delete posts, but you MAY NOT EDIT posts.
There will be a public thread. When you believe you are done, you should post "DONE" in that thread. At that point you may no longer delete or add posts. You also may not retract and DONE, edit or delete it. When you say it, it's final, you are done. I will then go to your thread and check it. If you are correct, and were the first to post "DONE" in the thread, you win. If you were incorrect you are eliminated from the challenge. The first person to correctly make their way to the finish, and post done or the last player standing will be this cop challenge. If after 18 hours (Friday, 3PM) we do not have a winner, of the remaining players, whoever has the most legal moves in their thread after 18 hours will be the winner.
Anyone who posts or deletes after 18 hours (at or after 3PM, Friday) will be disqualified.
Anyone who edits will be disqualified.
Good luck! Feel free to voice all questions to me here, on AIM, or through PM.
