REMEMBER THIS IS A PREPOST. THIS CHALLENGE DOESN'T START UNTIL SATURDAY, 7PM EST
Robber Competition #6- "Greenhouse Effect"
Welcome to the Giant Greenhouse on the leftmost border of Waterburg's beautiful park here. Within this, one of the largest greehouses in the world, are some of the rarest most valuable plants on this side of the hemisphere! Your goal is to scale the top of the greenhouse and get into the opening at the top. However, this will take great balance, and endurance. That will be the competition for this challenge.
Each of you will be assigned a color patch of glass panels. Starting at exactly 7:30 EST, Saturday you may begin posting in your personal glass pane thread. YOUR FIRST POST FOR EVERY HOUR MUST BE A MATH PROBLEM, ADDING OR SUBTRACTING A NUMBER FROM YOUR CURRENT BASE NUMBER.
Everyone will start with the base number 0. What this means is your first post should be
0 + _(A number on one of your panels)_ = _(The sum/difference)_
or
0 - _(A number on one of your panels)_ = _(The sum/difference)_
You must solve your math question as well. This should be your very first post. Before the hour is up (If you posted at 8:15, before it turns 8:30 PM), you must post in the public thread at the top called "Broken Panels" your sum/difference. You ALSO must check which numbers have been posted here. For every number of your that is posted here, you must post 6 more posts each following hour. So if you have 3 numbers posted here on one hour-long period, you must make at least 18 posts (including the equation) every following hour. You must keep rechecking to see if new numbers of yours are posted.:
If you see that one of your panel numbers is posted in this thread by someone at 8:30, during the hour of 9:30-10:29, and hour hour after that you are required to make AT LEAST 6 posts. If you post an incorrect number in the public thread, forget to post a number you created in the public thread before an hour is up, or do not post the amount of posts you have to make every hour [(numbers posted in the current thread) x (6)], or if you do not make the first post of every :30-:29 hour a math equation you will be eliminated.
the second equation that you make will not use "0" as a base number anymore, but rather the sum/difference you created in the first equation. So if your first post at 8:42 was:
"0 + 181 = 181" by at least 9:29 you must post 181 in the public thread. In addition, your next math equation, which will be posted on your first post for any following hour will be the sum/difference of the previous equation. So the second equation that person would make could be:
181 - 37 = 144
This of course is assuming that "37" is also one of your panels, as 181 was. You must then post 144 in the public thread before the hour is up, to let them know that every hour after this hour they will need to make 6 more posts or they will be eliminated.
You as well must keep track of however many of your tiles are broken, to know how many posts AT LEAST you must make every hour. Your first equation post for every hour, will count as one of your posts for that hour.
So in review:
- Everyone has 20 panels with numbers of them. Every hour that they post (Between :30-:29), must start with a math equation, and the sum/difference must be posted in the public thread before the hour is up.
- Your first equation will be 0 plus or minus one of your panels. The sum or difference will be the number you post in the public thread. You then must add or subtract any of your panels to/from the sum/difference you got from the last equation. A sequence could be:
Hour 1 Post- 0 - 8 = -8
Hour 2 Post- No posts
Hour 3 Post- -8 + 9 = 1
Hour 4 Post- 1 + 152 = 153
Hour 5 Post- 153 - 22 = 131
(This is assuming that 8, 9, 22 and 152 are all one of your panels, and that during the first hour no one had posted any of your panel numbers in the public thread that would have gotten you eliminated for no posting during the second hour)
- You must review the posts made in the public thread. for every different one of your numbers appears there that is 6 posts you MUST make on every hour round after that post.
Things that will eliminate you:
- Not starting an hour off with a math equation
- Editing or deleting posts
- Posting an incorrect number in the public thread
- Not posting a number in the public thread that you got from your math equation on the hour you got it in the public thread
- Not posting six times every following hour for each of your panels that are broken.
This challenge is meant to test your concentration. The last person left standing will win this competition. Once you are out you cannot break anymore tiles. Also, posts made after equations before the next hour, can be anything that doesn't include numbers.
